The Ontario Weed Tour was held during the week of July 14 and visited University of Guelph research stations at Elora, Huron Park, Ridgetown and Woodstock as well as the Agriculture and Agrifood Canada research station in Harrow. A number of interesting research trials were showcased ranging from organic management systems to herbicide systems in field and horticultural crops. One of the most intriguing trials was shown at the Elora Research Station, where Dr. Francois Tardif and Dr. Clarence Swanton have just begun a long term trial tha explores herbicide systems to manage yellow nutsedge, an extremely problematic weed. A slide show of soybean herbicide treatments from the first year of this trial can be seen by clicking here.
